Camp Spencer Facilities


Dining Hall

The dining hall and kitchen are available for large groups, and district and council events. This full institutional kitchen is equipped with a walk-in refrigerator and freezer, two Vulcan propane ranges, brazier (cooking pan), sinks and work counters, ice maker, a large dry good storage area, pots and pans, dishes and a dishwasher. The attached dining room is centrally heated and has a fireplace, indoor rest room (ADA) for men and women, and seating for 180 people. No sleeping is permitted in the Dining Hall. No firewood is provided. Units are to provide the firewood for the duration of their stay. Any dead fall located on the reservation may be used for firewood. No standing trees may be cut.

Jacobs Pavilion

This is a large open-air roofed pavilion with 40 picnic tables, fireplace, electric lights, and receptacles. Units are to provide the firewood for the duration of their stay. Any dead fall located on the reservation may be used for firewood. No standing trees may be cut. This facility is perfect for a family reunion, a unit get together, or any other day function.

Tent sites

There are ten (10) wooded or open field tent sites available for units or districts desiring to camp during the winter camping season. Each site has an open air pavilion. Picnic tables and pit latrines are available for use. Water is nearby at a frost-free hydrant.

Hansen Lodge

This lodge was designed and constructed to ADA standards to serve Special Needs Scouts and volunteers. It is equipped with bunks to sleep 46 (20 ADA), a tiled meeting room, an institutional kitchen, central heating, a fireplace, and ceramic tile in the men’s and women’s shower and bathroom facilities. The showers, toilets, sinks, doors and handles, 20 beds and entrances are ADA approved. This lodge may be rented by non-handicapped Scouts and non- Scout groups at a higher fee. Brooms, mop and bucket are provided for use in the lodge. A fire alarm and sprinkler system are installed in this facility.

Administration Building

This centrally heated building provides for a maximum capacity of 20 people. Propane stove, refrigerator, 20 cots, table, chairs and a bathroom are provided. Separate sleeping quarters for males and females are available in this building. A mop, broom, dustpan, and bucket are also available for use. Activity Center (Old Trading Post) This facility provides an opportunity for Scouts in Troop and district activities to gather together. The center is heated during the winter. There is no plumbing in this building. There is no indoor sleeping.

Learning Center

This building is used as a conference room. It is equipped with bathrooms, sink and a refrigerator. This facility can accommodate up to 24 people and is perfect for conducting meetings, trainings, and group activities. There is no indoor sleeping.

Campfire Circle (Amphitheater)

An amphitheater with stadium seating, campfire circle, lighting and electricity is available for large group campfires and shows. Reservations must be made with Camping Services and are on a first-come first-served basis in as-is condition. The fee is $1.00 per person for anyone not currently registered as a camper at Broad Creek, or a minimum of $27. No wood is provided. Lights must be turned off and all fires thoroughly extinguished upon leaving the area.
