Merit Badge Counselors:

The term of a merit badge counselor for the Arrowhead District starts June 1 of one year through May 31 of the following year.  Your Youth Protection Training must be valid for your complete merit badge counselor term.

Current Counselors:

Keeping your contact information is up to date is critical to allow scouts and the dean of merit badges to contact you.  To update your contact information or if you want to make any changes to the list of badges you are registered to teach you need do the following steps.

1.  Complete a BSA Merit Badge Counselor application and include any changes (adds or drops).  You can find a copy of the form online using the link in the resource links section of this page.

2.  Make sure your youth protection training is up to date and will not expire before your current term as a merit badge counselor.  If it isn’t up to date or will expire prior to the end of your term complete the BSA online Youth Protection Training and then print out a copy of your completion certificate.

3.  If you are signing up to counsel a shooting sport merit badge you will need to supply a copy of your training certificate for each of the shooting sports you have listed on your BSA Merit Badge Counselor application.

New 4.  Complete the ongoing background consent form, also available on the resource links section of this page.

Old 4. 5 becomes 5. 6

5.  Turn the paperwork into the dean of merit badges at a district meeting or monthly round table.

6.  Wait for an acknowledgement from the dean of merit badges that your application has been accepted.

Renewals Process:

The renewal process is very simple.

There are two big changes. First, I need the ongoing background check authorization form.  It is available on the resource pages.   Second, I must have “live” signatures on the forms.  This means that scanned signatures cannot be accepted.

Please mail them to me, the Dean of Merit Badges.
