A hands-on High Adventure Skills Resource Management Experience

LOCATION:   Broad Creek Memorial Scout Reservation

Powder Horn is open to registered Youth and Adult Leaders in Scouting; 
Course will be held from early Friday morning and  concluding Sunday late afternoon.
Each course is different, highly suggest taking it again!

WHAT IS POWDERHORN?

Powderhorn is a resource course designed to introduce Scouts and Scouters to exciting high-adventure program possibilities for their Unit.  Participants leave with a list of ideas to help their program, along with the contacts and resources needed to implement them.

 
Aquatics - Backpacking - COPE - Climbing - Conservation - Cycling - First Aid  
Fishing - Land Navigation - Leave No Trace - Outdoor Living History 
Plants & Wildlife - Search & Rescue - Shooting Sports - Wilderness Survival
 
Course Objectives:

 

  • Safe participation in fun and challenging outdoor activities
  • Introduction to resources that can improve a unit's program
  • Exposure to new and exciting high-adventure activities
  • Help in delivering a robust outdooe program at the unit level using a variet of resources
  • Promoting youth and adult creativity when delivering high-adventure programs.
 
PARTICIPANT PRE-REQUISITES:

 

Adults:

  • Registered as an Adult Leader
  • Fully trained in your registered position

Youth:

  • 14 years or older and registered as a Boy Scout, Venturer, or Sea Scout
  • Completed ILST, ILSC, ILSS or NYLT
 

ALL PARTICIPANTS:

  • Be current in following online: Venturing Youth Protection, Hazardous Weather, Safe Swim Defense & Safety Afloat and Climb on Safely - online trainings can be found at www.myscouting.org 
  • Current BSA Annual Health & Medical Records, Parts A, B and C - click HERE  
 
COURSE FEES (includes all meals, activities, t-shirt and PH course resources and library)
  • Individual Adult Fee:    $200 
  • Youth fee:                     $175
