Boy Scout Camporee

The biggest field event for Boy Scout Troops (and sometimes Venturing Crews) and a great Scouting tradition. It’s a time to come together as a District for a weekend and shake hands with friends from different troops, new and old.  It’s a time for Scouts of all ages to try their skill at fun challenges and show their pride in their Patrol, Troop, and the Scouting program.  Camporee activities may include contests and demonstrations of outdoor Scouting skill as well as fragrant campfires, games, field events, and inter-troop competitions.  Campers and campsites emphasize Leave No Trace low-impact outdoor ethics and often have campsite competitions.  The Order of the Arrow conducts “call out” ceremonies for newly-elected members and Ordeal members have a chance to seal their Brotherhood. The Camporee usually ends with a big District campfire on Saturday evening and a Scouts’ Own Service to observe the Twelfth Law on Sunday morning.
