About Baltimore Area Council Venturing

Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) through 20 years of age. Venturing's purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults.

Venturing is a new, comprehensive program developed with the needs of teenagers in mind. It offers you an opportunity for investing in your future. Time in Venturing is truly time well spent.

  • Do you want to meet new friends?
  • Do you want to go places and do things that you have never experienced?
  • Do you want to share your ideas and opinions?

Venturing is an opportunity for young men and women to enjoy each other’s company and build a program that is the best fit for them. Venturing crews typically have a specific interest and build a calendar around events that the members are interested in.

Common interest areas include: General Interest (camping, backpacking, trips), High Adventure (climbing, rafting, caving), Fire Safety & Rescue, Sport Shooting, and Faith Based (church groups, youth groups)…the options are endless.

Crews can be all girls, all boys, or co-ed. All Venturers must be 15 years old, or 14 years old and have completed the eighth grade.

New rules are 14 years old or 13  years old AND have completed the 8th grade.
