Bird Study Merit Badge

Your Scouts can earn Bird Study Merit Badge during Spring Migration

I am Marty Brazeau, from Troop 828.  John Robinson and I are the Baltimore Bird Club Youth Birding Coordinators.  Both of us worked at Broad Creek Scout Camp as Ecology Conservation Directors.

We have put together a fun, outdoor oriented Bird Study Merit Badge program.

I can come out to your troop meeting to give a half-hour presentation about Bird Study Merit Badge that includes quickly reviewing the website and online workbook, reviewing upcoming bird hikes, showing an entertaining five minute informative video, about birding and a hands-on bird identification activity.

Troops must provide a computer and projector.  I have a flash drive with the video.  No online access needed.  Students must be supervised by an adult while I give the presentation.

You can have Scouts contact me to sign up for the badge.  Scouts must attend bird hikes with a parent or responsible adult.

I have funding from the Baltimore Bird Club.  Scouts who complete the badge will receive a laminated bird identification card that can be used during camping trips.
We also have pairs of binoculars to loan.

Hope to hear from you.  Scouts who become birders can turn into Troop Naturalists.
